PR1MA Secures Kedah Project Through Strategic Partnerships
Friday, 24 January 2014 – Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) today has exchanged MoU documents with Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Kedah (PKNK), working closely with them to identify availability of strategic land in the state for the development of PR1MA homes and its community. PR1MA has also exchanged development documents with SP Baiduri Sdn Bhd, a private developer to build PR1MA homes in Sungai Petani.
PR1MA's project in Sungai Petani will consist of more than 1,000 landed homes located strategically within the vicinity of hypermarkets, schools, clinics and banks. PR1MA has also included in its plan to build a recreational field, surau and a communal hall for the community to utilize. The development is a prime example of the vision that PR1MA has for its development with easy access to everyday facilities and amenities to further help ease the cost of living for middle income earners. These partnerships showcase an example of good public-private partnership and federal and state collaboration.
"We are excited to have signed this agreement with PKNK and SP Baiduri as we look to step up efforts in fulfilling our mandate to build 500,000 PR1MA homes. This project will be the first of many developments that we will have in Kedah. We want to encourage the people of Kedah who are eligible to come forward and register themselves for an opportunity to own a PR1MA home in Sungai Petani," said Dato' Abdul Mutalib Alias, Chief Executive Officer, PR1MA.
Dato' Abdul Mutalib Alias further added that availability of suitable land remains one of its main challenges and the collaboration with the state and private sector bode well with its objectives to provide more than just houses, but homes in good areas which are conducive for community building and living.
To date the PR1MA members of corporation has approved 45,000 homes nationwide and works have already started in Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur. PR1MA targets to launch its existing approved projects this year and balloting to follow a month or two after the launches. The projects are in various stages of approvals and some may take longer than others. PR1MA is mindful that it still needs to undergo all the required due diligence before it can proceed with the development of the projects.
