Putrajaya, 8 February 2017 -The signing of an agreement between PERMATA Division, Prime Minister’s Department which serves as an education programme orientated towards a child’s holistic development, with focus on cognitive, socio-emotional and communication skills as well as physical well-being, and Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia marks a milestone in the all-round development aspects of children and youngsters who are set to be the future leaders of this country.
This agreement will see that PR1MA will construct not just decent, affordable homes for community-building but also childcare centres and PERKASA @ Remaja youth community centres in every PR1MA high-rise development, involving the construction of 500 units and above.
PR1MA Chief Executive Officer, Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Abdul Mutalib Alias said the first PR1MA development project that will feature this programme will be PR1MA@ Alam Damai in Cheras. The programme is expected to be launched by next year (2018).
By the end of this year, children and young adults of some 5,909 PR1MA homeowners are set to benefit from this PERMATA-PR1MA collaborative programme.
“And by the end of next year, the number of targeted homeowners who will benefit from this programme will double, to some 16,608 people,” he said in a press statement today.
Dato’ Abdul Mutalib added that the overall number of homeowners who stand to gain from the programme under PR1MA developments will be 290,000.
For household income below RM4,000, the children are welcome to join the programme free of charge. The fee for household income between RM4,000 and RM6,000 is RM90, RM6,000 to RM8,000 is RM150, and RM8,000 and above is RM230.
“For every 500 units that PR1MA builds, there will be one childcare centre for 50 children. For example, if the total number of units built is 1,500, there will be 3 centres. This is our commitment which PR1MA will uphold, together with the mandate given by the government for PR1MA to continue building affordable homes to assist families to buy their first home,” he said.
As PERMATA Negara’s target group is children between one and four years old, this programme will provide for children under four years of age to undergo a process of quality early learning in a fun learning environment.
Dato’ Abdul Mutalib added the rooms for learning activities will be structured according to PERMATAsix learning modules for a free flow concept.
Under PERKASA @ Remaja programme, the target group is those between 15 and 25 years old. This programme is designed to empower youth in our development areas to discover their potentials through active participation in a series of community activities.
A host of activities and skills will be held in the community centre such as vocal and music club, photography club, baking and decorating cakes.
Dato’ Abdul Mutalib also said this collaborative programme between PERMATA and PR1MA is a starting point for PR1MA to build not only homes but also to pursue diligently community living, including innovative means of child minding while providing productive space for young adults.
“This programme with PERMATA Negara will start small but it is set to go a long way in charting the future direction of our youngsters and in helping our country to produce quality and reliable human capital or workforce in the long run,” he said.
He added that PERMATA-PR1MA childcare centre will also ease worries of working parents in ensuring that their children are taken care of while they are out earning a living. “PR1MA’s development will not focus solely on brick and mortar aspects but will include other elements which are significant towards the creation of a harmonious and holistic integrated community living.”
